About Northern Star Council

Northern Star Council, headquartered in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, serves more than 113,000 young people in 21 counties across central Minnesota and four counties in western Wisconsin. The council is among the five largest in the United States and is led by over 24,000 volunteers. More than 1,100 community organizations, representing educational, religious, non-profit, civic, and business organizations join in partnership with Northern Star Council by chartering 1,746 Scouting units (packs, troops, teams, crews, posts and groups). The Northern Star Council is the result of the July 1, 2005 merger of the former Viking (Minneapolis) and Indianhead (St. Paul) Councils.

Logo: Northern Star Council

The "Northern Star" logo is descriptive of our part of the country and relates to our mission of providing direction/guidance to young people. The logo is designed to be interpreted on many levels, showing a star moving upward and onward, the circle reflecting the points of a compass and the direction it offers, with the BSA fleur-de-lis in the center of it all.
