19th Annual Governor's Fire Prevention Day

Individual Gear Donning

  1. Joey Skare, Rosemount Fire Department Explorer - 1st Place
  2. Logan Chapman, Rosemount Fire Department Explorer - 2nd Place


Overall Fire Challenge Award recipients:

  1. Rosemount Fire Department Explorers - 1st Place
  2. Alexandria Fire Department Explorers - 2nd Place
  3. Maple Grove Fire Department Explorers - 3rd Place
  4. Chaska Fire Department Explorers - 4th Place
  5. Columbia Heights Fire Explorers - 5th Place

Combat Relay Challenge was a new competition that was introduced to the competition this year and the winner was Alexandria Fire Department Explorers with an impressive time of 3 minutes 30 seconds.

In the overall competitions, first and second award placements were separated by only 1 point.

A banner day there were 24 posts and 29 teams that participated in the day's events.

A special thank you to the Minneapolis Fire Department Explorers and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Explorers for there highly informative and professional execution of 2 Mock Car Extrications Demonstrations next to the Hot Zone.

The Hot Zone is an exhibitors area for fire departments and state fire agencies to provide public awareness demonstrations and information about fire prevention.

Teams were judged in the following events.

  • Ladder Evolution
  • Cardiac Arrest Management
  • Spinal Immobilization
  • Public Education
  • Search and Rescue
  • Firefighter I Exam
  • Individual Gear Donning
  • Combat Relay

Governor's Council on Fire Prevention and Control

The Governor's Council on Fire Prevention and Control is the overall host of the event. It's the belief of the Council that fire prevention efforts brought to the public in an interesting and fun way will help to reduce the amount of injury and death due to fire in Minnesota. Fire Service Explorers and their post advisors are proud to represent their community fire departments. Local firefighters are tremendous mentors to the Explorers. These volunteers share their knowledge and expertise to help the Explorers perform to the best of their abilities during this day of healthy competition.
