Be a High Performing Pack, Troop, or Crew

Be A Scout group Others Look Up To

We're all volunteers and none of us are experts on everything. So, don't be worried if you feel like you don't know what you're doing, because every volunteer has felt that way at one time or another. Successful volunteers find and use the resources available to make Scouting great. Here are a few ideas to take your Pack/Troop/Crew to the next level and be a "high performing" unit.

Keys to Success

Journey 2.0

Journey 2.0 is an excellent place to start. In order for your Pack, Troop, or Crew to perform well, you need a number of things:

  • A plan that is fun and exciting for your youth - this is called a program plan
  • A budget to support that well planned program
  • A way to communicate with your families
  • Leaders who have completed basic training (so they know what they should be doing)
  • Leaders who have completed advanced training

All these things together make up Journey 2.0 and is a roadmap for you to follow. For more information about this, click Journey 2.0 in related content.

Recruiting Adult Leadership

Another area that Packs, Troops, and Crews struggle with is having enough adults. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? That's because you can never have too many adult leaders. Some of those will be registered (turned in an adult application) and some will just volunteer here and there. For information about getting more help, click Recruiting Adult Leaders in related content.

Having a FUN program

Packs/Troops/Crews will find, from time to time, that their youth are dropping out of the program.

If this is happening to your Pack/Troop/Crew, remember this mantra:

Kids Don't Leave an AWESOME Program

If youth are leaving your Pack/Troop/Crew, most likely, your program is stagnant, boring, or otherwise not fun. Engage your youth and make some changes.
