Volunteer Opportunities to Serve on IOLS Staff

Interested in becoming staff for the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills and Scoutmaster Specifics (IOLS/SM) course? This course is offered 3 times a year, Spring, Fall, and Winter, and rotates through 3 different camps around the council.

There are two first time staffing positions available, Troop Guide and Instructor.

Troop Guide - Time commitment is Friday night through to Sunday afternoon of the course weekend. You would be responsible for at least 1 skill area and several patrol presentations. You would be expected to register as staff to cover food costs and camping fees. There are also a few short meetings leading up to the event to participate in.

Instructor - The commitment of time is Saturday of the course weekend. You would be responsible for teaching in a couple of different skill areas. Most materials and teaching instructions are provided. There are also a few short meetings leading up to the event to participate in.

Serving on staff for IOLS/SM is a great way to meet other Scouters, improve your presentation skills, and see if training volunteers is an area you would like to spend some of your volunteer time. If you are interested in serving on staff, or have additional questions, please contact us!
