Leadership Standards

Our practices regarding leadership selection

Volunteers are the heart of Scouting and Northern Star Council. We welcome all people who can help further our mission. Our volunteers come with diverse backgrounds, skills, and life experiences.

How are leaders selected?

As we have for more than a century, we trust parents and community organizations to choose Scout leaders who are role models and teachers for their children. What we ask of all is appropriate behavior consistent with the character and values we want to instill in young people.

If you have questions about who selects leaders, accountability, or how Scouting reflects community values in our 25 county area, please contact Kent York, Marketing Director, at 651-254-9142.
