Who Are the 39ers?

A Group of Volunteers

The 39ers are a dedicated group of Scouting volunteers in Northern Star Council. Named after an old Jack Benny joke, the names and faces of the members have changed since they began in 1970, approximately 24 39ers have gathered in our Golden valley Scout council service center twice a month to volunteer their time on council projects.

Odds are that any materials for our Scouting units that have had to be collated, labelled, sorted, counted, stuffed in to envelopes or boxes have been a project of the 39ers.

They have been crucial in putting together School Night for Scouting material, Unit Charter Renewal kits, Roundtable materials and large mailings to support Friends of Scouting. To name but a few projects. The 39ers are looking for additional members to help on these projects. They meet the first Tuesday and the 3rd Thursday of each month. If you are interested in becoming a 39er, or just coming by now and then to help, please contact:

Bruce Cary - (763-497-9085) Arnie Hermanson - (763-420-0252) Rich Koechlein - (952-831-1472)

And for those who live on the south end of our council – we could really use you starting July 2018 when we move in to our new Council Leadership Center at Ft. Snelling!
